PBSC CLub meeting this Thursday....featuring Serge Dedina from Wildcoast

Hey guys,

just wanted to get the word out about the monthly club meeting this Thursday at 7pm at the VFW Hall on Turquoise St in Pacific Beach. 853 Turquoise St San Diego CA 92109.

Its going to be a great time. We have Segre Dedina coming from Wildcoast to speak at the meeting. He will inform us more about what they do as a conservation group in San Diego as well as in Baja California.

Please spread the word to everybody you can. Although this is a PBSC meeting we are inviting friends and family to come along as well.

Other topics well be going over...
DUES_ we need to get squared up on past contest dues as well as membership fees/renewals for this year. We have a list from Doheny of competitors who havent paid so come ready.

Charity for 2012...think of a few different organizations that we could support this year.

Summer Longboard Classic...were already preparing for our annual June Longboard Contest... please think of sponsors that we could get involved with this year to help support the contest. We all frequent certain businesses and eateries all over town...see if they might be interested....

Well try to make the business part of the meeting quick as we'll have a good show to watch from Serge and the team from Wildcoast.

See you there...

SURFING COMMUNITY RALLIES TO LEARN CPR/AED
Bird's Surf SHED to Offer Free CPR/AED Training In Conjunction With San Diego Project Heartbeat

Recently three surfing icons died from sudden cardiac arrest while enjoying the sports they loved. In response to this, and out of respect for their memories, Bird's Surf SHED is partnering with San Diego Project Heartbeat to offer a free event where anyone who is interested can learn the basic CPR/AED skills that may help save a person's life. The class is being taught by San Diego EMTs, Paramedics, and Lifeguards who are volunteering their time to support this cause.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is responsible for approximately 325,000 deaths in the United States alone (source: Heart Rhythm Foundation). The highest survival rates by far are seen in patients who receive bystander CPR and treatment from an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Bird's Surf SHED is a unique blend of surf shop, museum, and community cenhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifter founded by San Diego surfing legend Bird Huffman. http://birdssurfshed.com

San Diego Project Heartbeat's mission: "To save lives by establishing awareness, education, and immediate access to Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) throughout the city and county of San Diego to SAVE LIVES!" http://www.sdprojectheartbeat.com/

What: Free opportunity for surfers and their friends and family to learn basic CPR/AED skills.
Where: Bird's Surf SHED, 1091 West Morena, San Diego, CA 92110.
When: Friday, January 27th, from 6pm to 8pm.
Why: Because the more people who know the basics of CPR, the more lives may be saved!
How: Please RSVP to Bird via facebook or by phone (619) 276-2473.
